The Toronto Tax Boutique (TTB) Referral Program is a rewards initiative designed for our clients to spread the word about our services. As a participating client, you can refer friends, family members, or colleagues to file their taxes with TTB and earn $10 for every referral who files their taxes with TTB using your referral link. When someone you refer, pays their required deposit, and completes their tax filing service with us, your reward becomes available. It’s our way of showing appreciation for your trust and support.

Who can participate in the program?

The Referral Program is open to active Toronto Tax Boutique clients for the current tax season. To be eligible, you must a receiver for TTB’s tax filing services and paid your service deposit for current financial year. Once you meet these criteria, you’ll receive access to a unique referral link that you can share with people in your network. Only referrals made through your personal link will be tracked and counted toward your rewards.

How do I join the program?

There’s no separate sign-up required. Once you become a TTB client and complete your service deposit payment in the current financial year, you’ll automatically get link to your Client Dashboard. Inside the dashboard, you’ll find your unique referral link along with tools to track your referrals and rewards. Simply copy your link and share it via email, text, or social media to start referring.

Referral Process

How do I refer someone?

Referring someone is quick and easy:

  • Access your Client Dashboard using your unique access link.
  • Locate your personal referral link inside the dashboard.
  • Copy the link or use the built-in sharing buttons (such as WhatsApp or Email).
  • Share the link with friends, family members, or colleagues who may need help filing their taxes.

Once a person uses your link to book with Toronto Tax Boutique and completes the required payments, the referral is considered successful and you become eligible for a reward.

Is there a limit to how many people I can refer?

No — there is no cap on the number of people you can refer. You can share your referral link with as many people as you like. You will earn rewards for each successful referral, as long as they meet all the program requirements.

What happens after I share my link?

When someone clicks on your referral link, here’s what happens:

  • They are directed to a personalized booking page linked to your referral account
  • They choose their tax filing type (Individual or Couple)
  • They enter their contact details
  • They complete the required deposit payment

Once these steps are completed, the system automatically tracks the referral under your account. If they proceed with their tax filing service and meet all program conditions, your reward of $10 will be credited accordingly.

Can I refer myself?

No. Self-referrals are not allowed. Any attempts to refer yourself using a different email, phone number, or identity may result in the referral being disqualified and removal from the program.

Can I refer someone who is already a TTB client?

No, The person you referred should have never used TTB's tax filing services

Can I see the list of people I’ve referred and their status?

Yes. You can track all your referrals in your Client Dashboard under the Referral History section.

What details can I see about my referrals?

For each referral, you will see:

  • The referred person’s name
  • The date they signed up
  • Their current referral/payment status
  • The reward linked to that referral
What if we are married/in a common law relationship? Can we refer each other?

No, married/common law partners are considered one referee.

Deposits and Payments

What are the deposit amounts?

The required deposit depends on the type of tax filing service selected:

Filing Type Deposit Amount
Individual Filing CAD $50
Couple Filing CAD $100

This deposit secures the client’s booking and allows Toronto Tax Boutique (TTB) to begin the tax preparation process.

What is “Individual Filing”?

Individual Filing is for one person who is filing their personal income tax return on their own.

This option is suitable if:

  • You are single, separated, divorced, or widowed
  • You are married or in a common-law relationship but filing separately
  • Only one person requires tax filing services

Deposit required: CAD $50

What is “Couple Filing”?

Couple Filing is for two partners (married or common-law) who want their taxes prepared together.

Even though each person files their own tax return, preparing both returns together allows TTB to:

  • Optimize tax benefits between partners
  • Claim eligible shared credits and deductions
  • Ensure accurate income splitting where applicable

Both individuals must provide their tax information for this option. Further, married/common law partners are considered one referee.

Deposit required: CAD $100 (covers both partners’ filings)

What payment methods are accepted?

TTB currently accepts the following payment options for deposits:

1. Interac e-Transfer (Recommended)

  • No processing fee
  • They can send the deposit via Interac e-Transfer to the official TTB email address shared during the booking process
  • This is the most cost-effective option, as the full deposit amount goes toward the service

2. Credit or Debit Card

  • A 4% service fee is applied to card payments
  • This fee covers third-party payment processing charges
  • The fee is added automatically at checkout when paying by card
What does the 4% card service fee mean?

If you choose to pay their deposit using a credit or debit card, an additional 4% processing fee is added to the total amount. This fee is charged by payment providers, not TTB.

Here’s how it works:

Deposit Amount Total with 4% Card Fee
$50 $52
$100 $104

Clients who wish to avoid this extra charge can choose Interac e-Transfer, which does not include any processing fees.

Is the deposit refundable?

Yes, deposits are refundable if you request a refund within 24 hours of making the payment.

What happens after 24 hours?

Once 24 hours have passed, the deposit becomes non-refundable. This is because your deposit secures your booking slot and allows TTB to begin allocating time and resources to your tax filing.

Does the deposit go toward the final tax filing fee?

Yes. Your deposit is not an extra charge — it is credited toward your final tax preparation fee.

Once your tax return is completed, the deposit amount you already paid will be deducted from your total balance, and you will only need to pay the remaining amount.

Rewards

How much will I earn per referral?

You will earn CAD $10 for every successful referral.

A referral is considered successful when:

  • The referred person is a new TTB client
  • They use your referral link
  • They pay the required deposit
  • They complete their tax filing and and has cleared the invoice
When do I earn my reward?

Your reward goes through two stages:

Credited & Locked

  • As soon as your referred client pays their deposit, the reward appears in your account as Locked
  • This means the referral is tracked and recognized, but not yet withdrawable

Unlocked

  • Once the referred client completes their tax filing and pays their remaining balance in full, your reward becomes Unlocked
  • At this stage, the reward is available for withdrawal according to the program’s payout process
What’s the difference between Locked and Unlocked rewards?
Status Meaning
Locked The reward is earned and visible in your account, but cannot be withdrawn yet because the referred client has not completed full payment
Unlocked The referred client has fully paid for their tax filing service, and the reward is now available for withdrawal
Can locked rewards be lost?

Yes. Locked rewards are conditional and may be removed if the referral does not successfully complete the full process.

A locked reward may be cancelled if:

  • The referred client cancels their service
  • The referred client does not complete their tax filing
  • The referred client fails to clear their invoice
  • The referral is found to be fraudulent, duplicated, or in violation of the program rules (for example, self-referrals or fake accounts)
  • You have engaged with TTB for any affiliations or Social Media Marketing

In these cases, the reward will be removed from your account and will not be unlocked.
